Despite the dynamic development of the Indian economy, the country’s retail sector has maintained its traditional structures: people shop mainly at small stores and markets. Modern retail formats currently account for a market share of only about 7 percent. International retailing companies are seeking to utilise more of the potential offered by this fragmented market.
