Inspired by Antarctica cbi:///cms/253488

Mr. Swan, what motivated you to walk to both the North Pole and South Poles?  cbi:///cms/253489
The histories of true polar explorers such as Robert Falcon Scott, Ernest Shackleton and Roald Amundsen. Their courage and their commitment have inspired me in the same way as Antarctica proper. It is the last truly untouched land in the world. cbi:///cms/253490
Why should junior executives from METRO GROUP apply for the expedition? What can they learn from this?  cbi:///cms/253492
As participants of the Antarctic Expedition, the junior executives get the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience and return to METRO GROUP with lasting impressions. This will give them impulses for their own road towards sustainability. On this unique tour across the world’s last great wilderness, the participants will acquire leadership qualities and in addition have the chance to exchange with leading personalities from industry as well as students from all over the world.  cbi:///cms/253493

Manager in the company on the one hand – expedition leader on the other – do they have anything in common? cbi:///cms/253494
Yes. The present economic landscape is certainly anything but calm and peaceful. If you work in the harsh conditions prevailing in Antarctica, you learn that together you are strong but alone you are weak.  cbi:///cms/253495
In a nutshell, what are the qualities of a good executive?  cbi:///cms/253497
Perseverance, courage and the honest commitment to look after one’s team. At the same time, it also requires the humbleness to know that you are not always right. It is almost just as important to push from the back as to pull from the front.  cbi:///cms/253498
Why is it essential for companies like METRO GROUP to perceive sustainability as a strategic issue? cbi:///cms/253499
Very simple: because nowadays an increasing number of customers are asking for products and services from companies who have firmly embedded sustainability in their business strategy. cbi:///cms/253500
The organisation 2041 was founded by polar explorer and environmental leader Robert Swan. The team is committed to protecting and preserving Antarctica. 2041 is actively promoting recycling, the use of renewable energies and sustainability to combat the effects of climate change.  cbi:///cms/253503
The mission of 2041 and Robert Swan is to inform, motivate and sustainably engage young people. In 2003, organisation led the first Antarctic Expedition for a group of business executives, students and teachers. Since then, the US Americans have accompanied several hundred participants on a tour across the white continent.  cbi:///cms/253504
The expedition concentrates on the issues of sustainability and climate protection. Also in focus are aspects such as team work, responsibility and personal development. These are topics that are essential especially for business executives. cbi:///cms/253505
